NDEP seeks change to Valmy permit

WINNEMUCCA - State regulators plan to revise a landfill operating permit for the North Valmy Generating Station, after someone brought a significant error in the original document to their attention.

The current permit for the coal-fired power plant's Class III landfill notes that it covers about 100 acres, when it's actually 157 acres in size.

The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection's (NDEP's) Bureau of Waste Management is proposing to modify the Class III permit to correct the mistake.

The bureau's administrative record, including the draft permit, is available for public review by appointment between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the NDEP's office in Carson City.

Questions or comments on the proposed action, including requests for a public hearing on the matter, must be submitted in writing to: Jon Taylor, PE CEM; Nevada Division of Environmental Protection; Bureau of Waste Management - Solid Waste Branch; 901 S. Stewart St., Suite 4001; Carson City NV 89701-5249.
