Navy seeking comment on EA for Fallon Naval Air Station

FALLON - The U.S. Navy has prepared and released to the public a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate the potential environmental effects that may result from aircraft operations at Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon.

The EA examines the potential environmental effects that may result from maintaining current/baseline airfield operations at NAS Fallon; conducting airfield operations with new types of aircraft; constructing, renovating or demolishing facilities to support new types of aircraft; and increasing airfield operations to support future potential training conditions.

The Proposed Action is anticipated to be implemented during the 2015-2028 time frame.

Public input is very important in order for the Navy to fully understand community concerns and relevant issues. Individuals interested in the project are encouraged to provide their comments on the document within the public comment period through July 12.

The draft EA is available at the following website: http://www.navyregionsouthwest.com/go/doc/4275/1422155/. A printed copy is also available for review at the Churchill County Library, 553 S. Maine Street, Fallon, Nevada, 89406.

Comments must be postmarked no later than July 12 to ensure consideration in the final EA.
