Myrtle M. Evans

Myrtle M. Evans, age 90, currently of Buford, Ga., and a longtime resident of Battle Mountain, Nev., passed away peacefully on Feb. 3, 2013. Myrtle was born in Humphrey, Ark., on July 30, 1922.

She moved to Battle Mountain with her husband Tommie in 1947 and continued living there until 1999. Myrtle was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Tommie L. Evans, her parents Charles and Mary Winberry, four brothers Alvin, Jessie, Irvin, Henry, and one sister Evie. She is survived by a son Wayne (Debbi) Evans of Columbus, N.M., daughters Kathy (Dave) Goller of Buford, Ga., Betty Grimes of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Edna (Myron) Miller of Fallon, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Myrtle was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She was always a volunteer at school functions, a longtime 4-H leader and spent numerous hours at high school rodeo events. She enjoyed crocheting, walking and cooking large family meals.

Graveside services will be held at the Battle Mountain Cemetery, Battle Mountain on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at 1 p.m. then the family will receive visitors at the Hideaway Steak House, 305 South Broad St., Battle Mountain, immediately following the service.

Donations can be made to the Battle Mountain Cemetery Fund, Battle Mountain Historical Society or to a charity of choice.

The family would especially like to thank everyone from Brookside Senior Living for all of their support, care and genuine love for our mother and grandmother also a special thanks to Agape Hospice for all of their support and for making this difficult time a little easier.
