BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Lander County Historical Society members and Battle Mountain Cookhouse Museum volunteers are hoping to see a full turnout at its first Homemade Craft Fair on Nov. 1 and 2 at the museum, said Salle Lemaire, who is in charge of the committee that organized the events.

The event, which will feature around 10 or 11 booths, will take place on Nov. 1 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is a fundraiser for the museum and funds will go toward miscellaneous things, Lemaire said.

Other committee members are Coxie Roberts, Mary Yepez and Carol Jackson. Members are hoping to raise at least $300 for the museum, Lemaire added. It is a free event with donations being accepted.

The event will be held indoors with goods consisting of all homemade items including soaps, candles, signs, rustic furniture, quilted items, jewelry, chimes, baked goods, jams, Christmas ornaments, crocheted items and wool items, Lemaire said.

"I think it will be a good one," Lemaire added. "We have some good things. We are hoping for a big turnout. These are mostly Battle Mountain crafters and we like to support them and everything will be handmade."

Oct. 15 was the last day to sign up to be in the event. Booths were $25 per table.

During the event, the museum will be open for people to browse the many displays.

If the event is successful, the museum may hold another one in the spring, Lemaire said.

The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Its website is www.battlemountainmuseum.com. The museum can be reached at (775) 635-8548.[[In-content Ad]]
