Motorcyclists injured in attempt to pass slow-moving vehicle

WINNEMUCCA - The Nevada Highway Patrol reported a double motorcycle accident with injuries occurring on Sept. 22 at 9:55 a.m. on northbound U.S. 95 and mile marker 27.

The NHP said two motorcyclists were traveling northbound on U.S. 95 and approached a slower-moving pickup truck towing a fifth-wheel trailer. The driver of the truck made a move to cross the southbound lane to park on a large gravel shoulder on the west side of the highway.

The motorcyclists, at about the same moment, were making the move to pass the truck and trailer on the left into the southbound lane, according to the NHP. The driver of the truck moved back into the northbound lane and the motorcyclists traveled over the southbound lane on to the west shoulder. The first motorcyclist furrowed into the shoulder and overturned. The second motorcyclist braked, went into a skid and overturned on the west shoulder.

The motorcyclists were attended to by Humboldt General Hospital Emergency Medical Services Rescue.[[In-content Ad]]
