The Nevada State High School Rodeo Association is starting to wind down its regular season as the clubs competed in Lincoln County on this past weekend in Panaca.
Humboldt County's Savannah Montero won the goat tying on May 16 with a time of 9.60 seconds. Clay Stremler, who rides as an independent, was the only rider to stay for the full eight seconds in the saddle bronc, winning with 58 points.
Jake Logan (13.950) and Luke Logan (27.120) were third and ninth, respectively, in tie-down roping. Shaylee Robertson posted a fourth-place finish in breakaway roping with a time of 7.11, she was 17th
in pole bending at 28.340, 20th in barrel racing in a time of 19.848.
Trase Bell along with Fallon's Sam Goings were fourth in team roping with a time of 11.73. Dust Robertson was 11th in goat tying at 12.60.
In last Saturday's performance, Stremler and Luke Logan were first and second, respectively, with scores of 64 and 61. Montero came back with a third-place finish in goat tying with a time of 8.960 and she was ninth in breakaway roping at 8.96. Montero is currently seventh in the women's all-around standings and second in goat tying.
Jake Logan finished seventh in tie-down roping at 16.580. Shaylee Robertson was 10th in breakaway roping with a time of 16.330 and 11th in pole bending (25.538). Dusty Robertson was 11th in goat tying with a time of 15.490 and added a 24th-place finish in barrel racing at 21.067.
At the junior high level, Quint Bell (3.34) was first in the breakaway roping on May 16. In addition, he placed third in chute dogging at 22.970 and was seventh goat tying with a time of 13.080. Cade Bell was sixth in goat tying at 12.660 and the Bells' teamed up to finish third in team roping at 10.80.
Julianne Montero placed third in goat tying with a time of 11,160 and she was 11th in barrel racing (19.595) and 11th in pole bending (25.525).
In Saturday's performance, Cade Bell was second in breakaway roping with a time of 9.49 and fifth in goat tying at 14.71. Quint Bell was second in goat tying with a time of 12.90, third in breakaway roping (14.30) and ninth in ribbon roping at 26.89. The Bell's were fourth in team roping with a time of 14.79.
Montero finished fifth in both the barrel racing at 18.896 and goat tying at 10.52. She was 10th in pole bending with a time of 24.943.
The Nevada State Junior High School Finals take part this weekend in Winnemucca. Action begins on Saturday and continues on Sunday and Monday.
The high school circuit travels to Battle Mountain on May 30 - June 1 to close out the regular season. The Nevada State High School Rodeo Finals will take place June 11 - 15 in Ely.
