WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County Rodeo Club was back in southern Nevada for the Boulder City rodeo on Saturday, Nov. 10, and Sunday, Nov. 11, with Savannah Montero and Clay Stremler winning individual events. Montero swept both performances of goat tying, winning on Nov. 10 with a time of 9.37 seconds. She came back on Nov. 11 and improved her time to 7.84, beating the second-place finisher by nearly a second.
In addition, Montero added an eighth-place finish in the breakaway roping on Nov. 10 with a time of 5.81.
Stremler continued his strong run in the saddle bronc this fall season, as he won both performances as well. He scored 65 points on Saturday, Nov. 10, and came back on Sunday, Nov. 11 to score 666 points and claim the victory for a second time. He was the only rider to stay on his bronc for the full eight seconds in the Nov. 10 performance.
Cole Stremler earned a second-place finish in the saddle bronc on Nov. 11 with 61 points. Josh Dufurrena placed sixth in the team roping on Nov. 10 with partner Jason Wurtz with a time of 34.95.
Randi Buchanan and Wyatt Denny were named the all-around cowgirl and all-around cowboy, respectively, on Nov. 10.
Hayley Estes and Dakota Burney-Feyder were the reserve cowgirl and cowboy and Abby Estes and Jarad Sanford won the rookie honors.
On Nov. 11, Buchanan and Burney-Feyder won all-around cowgirl and cowboy honors. Rachel Hendrix and Denny claimed the reserve honors and Estes and Sanford took the rookie awards.
The club traveled to Las Vegas this past weekend for the final rodeo of the fall season. Results were not available at press time. The season resumes in March in Fernley.
