Mitchell named PCHS salutatorian Grad to attend University of Nevada, Reno

Mitchell will continue a family tradition and attend the University of Nevada, Reno. In addition to her mother and other family members being alumni of the school, Mitchell said she chose it because she has attended many events there and is familiar with the campus and, "It's not too far from home."

Mitchell is undecided on a major, since UNR no longer has interior design studies. However, she is still optimistic. Mitchell is taking a class that will teacher her which classes to take that will allow her to obtain her degree in her chosen field.

She is excited about attending UNR for a number of reasons, one of which is the new dorm rooms she will be moving into. The Living Learning Community pairs students who share their course of study on the same floors of the new dorms.

"It will be weird to leave here. Everyone knows you and talks to you. There I won't know anyone, but I'm ready to meet new people," Mitchell said.

Another thing Mitchell is looking forward to is her trip to Italy shortly after graduation.

"It's a graduation present from my mom," Mitchell said.

She and her mother will spend 12 days in Italy visiting Venice, Rome and Florence.

To her classmates she simply says, "We did it."
