Missoula Children's Summer Theater Camps coming to Winnemucca in July and August

WINNEMUCCA - Kids in first through 12th grades are invited to save the dates for Missoula Children's Theatre's eighth annual summer theater camp. The camp will run July 9 - 14 for "The Pied Piper" and Aug. 6 - 11 for "Red Riding Hood."

Young thespians can be a part of a full theater production and learn the craft of performing on stage, all the way from auditions on Monday to the final two performances on Saturday.

"The Pied Piper" was conceived and written by Jim Caron with music by Bob Hubley, who have created an original adaptation of the classic children's tale. What do you do when your town is overrun by ravenous rats? Sara, an orphan girl, and the other Townspeople of Hamelin Town turn to the Mayor of Hamelin and his Council when their town is threatened. They then call on the Pied Piper to save them from the troublesome creatures. The Mayor's son and daughter and the Cooks also join in the endeavor. Find out what happens when the town is unable to pay the Piper and the children are led away from the town along with the rats!

Participants must be present Monday, July 9, at 10 a.m. for an audition. Plan to practice every day that week, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., July 9 - 13. Two performances for family, friends and the public will be held on Saturday, July 14.

"Red Riding Hood" was conceived and written by Michael McGill. Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house she goes. Red Riding Hood, not so little anymore, and her pre-teen pals try to stay on the straight and narrow in the latest adventure from the Missoula Children's Theatre. The Big Bad Wolf, who is not so bad after all, and a friendly neighborhood Forest Ranger urge our heroes to stay true to the path, for in the Shadows lurk diversions and a sinister surprise or two. A pack of woefully nasty young wolves and a handsome Woodsman, too good to be true, are a must for our story. And we can't have a wolf tale without Three Little Pigs and even a Boy Who Cries, you guessed it. With help from her family and a loyal young Locksmith (he carries the key), Red finds her Grandma and a whole lot more. Now if only she could retrieve her picnic basket from those rascally Raccoons. Life is no picnic when you stray from the trail! Participants must be present Monday, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. for an audition. Plan to practice every day that week, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Aug. 6 - 10. Two performances for family, friends and the public will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11.
