Minors crash car, leave the scene of accident

WINNEMUCCA - A minor was arrested for DUI on Saturday, March 16, after a hit and run accident on the corner of Palisade Drive and Granada Avenue around 10:15 p.m.

Another passenger was cited for minor in consumption and failure to report an accident, according to Winnemucca Police Capt. Bill Dalley.

Dalley said the driver attempted to make a left turn from Palisade onto Granada but did not properly execute the turn. The vehicle then hit a wrought iron fence on the corner of the street.

At that time all four occupants of the vehicle fled the scene. The driver was located at a nearby residence and taken into custody, according to Dalley.

He was booked on DUI and several other related charges. Dalley said that the accident did not result in any injuries.

The driver was arrested for hit and run, resist/obstruct/delay, minor in possession, seatbelt required, reckless driving, open container, no evidence of current insurance, and immediate notice of accident in addition to DUI.
