Michael Sondermann, 65, lost his battle with cancer on Dec. 22, 2013, surrounded by loved ones. Born March 1, 1948, in Battle Mountain to Paul and Ellen Sondermann, Mike spent the majority of his life in his hometown.
Mike served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged Feb. 1, 1974. After working temporarily in the mining industry, he enjoyed many years as a long-haul truck driver for several companies before coming home to work for John Davis.
He eventually took a job for Lander County Road & Bridge, where he retired in January of 2013.
Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and making people laugh with his off-the-wall sense of humor. He also enjoyed having his coffee every morning at the Nevada Hotel surrounded by his friends.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents; Paul and Ellen, sister; Peggy, bother; Richard, niece; Niki, and nephew; Kevin. He is survived by his twin brother; Marvin (Joyce) Sondermann, sisters; Charlotte (Chuck) Connolly and Vickie Gallop, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and long time companion Ellen Sondermann.
Services will be held Dec. 27, 2013 (time pending) at the Battle Mountain Cemetery with a celebration of life to follow at the Nevada Hotel.[[In-content Ad]]
