Dan McVey was honored as the Nevada National Guard Soldier of the Year during a Memorial Day weekend ceremony at Run-A-Mucca outside Winners Hotel & Casino. McVey is married to Roni McVey, a math teacher at Winnemucca Junior High School and president of the Winnemucca Family Readiness Group. He is the father of five daughters. McVey is the regional safety & health coordinator for Southwest Energy. He has a Bachelor's degree in Business management and technology. He served in the military for 16 years: nine with the 1st/121st Cavalry in Fallon, seven with the 593rd Medium Transportation Company in Winnemucca. McVey is also a reverend as of 2010.
