WINNEMUCCA - The McDermitt High School boys basketball team was rewarded for its season, as Justin Fettic was named the Eastern 1A Player of the Year.
The Bulldogs finished a second consecutive undefeated season in the Eastern 1A and reached the state tournament for the first time since 2002. McDermitt ended the year at 22-7 overall after a 67-51 loss to Pahranagat Valley in the state semifinals.
Joining Fettic on the first-team, all-league squad was teammate LeRon Tom, Eureka's Dakota Howard, Wells' Farnes Egbert and Jackpot's Darren Hester.
Jackpot's Carlos Perez was named the Coach of the Year.
Owyhee had three players chosen to the second team in Skylon McKinney, Blayne Harney and Ronald Burton, along with Carlin's Ryan Gamble and Jackpot's Narciso Camacho.
McDermitt's Josh Harrer and Frankie Hill were named to the honorable mention team. That group also included Owyhee's Braxton McKinney, Carlin's Blade Lester, Jackpot's Bernardo Torres-Cruz and Wells' Andrew Woolsey.
