To promote the "college-going culture," Alma Mater Day was held Dec. 3 at McDermitt School. Faculty members wore their alma mater's shirts and shared briefly with their students about their college experience. In addition, many high school students wore the shirt of a college they were interested in.

If GEARUP seventh and eighth graders did not have a college shirt, they were given college shirts to wear and keep. They were asked to do research on the college they were given, according to school counselor Kelly Pinkston. Alma Mater Day was planned by Mrs. Pinkston and Mrs. Berberick.
