The Winnemucca, Nevada Pi Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International concluded their sorority year on April 30, 2014 with their annual Founder's Day Banquet held at the Winnemucca Inn. The woman of the year for 2013-2014 was Lillian Stoker. Program of the year was won by Sandi Phillips.

The year started in early September with a great beginning day party at the home of Jean Pfarr. A late summer deluge and thunderstorm capped the evening's festivities as 11 members of the chapter visited about their summer activities and started the sorority year anew.

Meetings, held twice a month through the fall, winter and spring months included cultural programs that were varied, informative and interesting. These programs included a virtual tour of Butchart Gardens, pie making, English Christmas traditions, the history of crochet, propagating small gardens and Utah's Prairie Dogs. Parties were held to celebrate Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's Day. The Valentines' Day party was a celebration and history of North America's Native American Cultures complete with costumes and legends from all members.

Chapter members contributed to the Beta Sigma Phi International Endowment Fund, the Winnemucca Food Bank, sponsored two senior Angels for Christmas, and to other local charitable causes.

Nevada Pi Master Chapter was formed from the former Laureate Rho Chapter in the spring. Nevada Pi Master is the first Master Degree Chapter in Winnemucca's long Beta Sigma Phi International history. In another first, three members of Nevada Pi Master earned their Torch Bearer Degrees. Lillian Stoker, Helen Gonzalez and Carol Drake are the first Winnemucca Beta Sigma Phi members to receive this honor. Doris Phillips received the Master Degree in April.

Officers for the 2014-2015 sorority year have been elected. They are; Linda Barton, president; Lillian Stoker, vice president; Charlie Beringer, recording secretary and Cindy Ulch, treasurer. The officers were installed on May 13, 2014 at the home of Helen Gonzalez.

Sandi Phillips will host a Western barbecue for all members and their spouses at the end of May. The 2014-2015 sorority year will begin again in September of 2014.
