Mary Ann Aranguena-Dunn, 66 of Splendora, Texas, after a long hard fought battle with cancer passed away on Sept. 7, 2014, at Conroe Regional Hospital with her loving husband Joseph at her side.
Mary was born April 27, 1948, in Winnemucca, Nev. She was the daughter to Domingo and Kathleen Aranguena of Winnemucca, Nev.
Mary spent her childhood in Winnemucca, Nev., graduating from Humbordt County High School. She continued her education by attending Steven Henager Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she earned her degree in business. Mary returned to Winnemucca where she pursued her passion of becoming a legal secretary. She worked for a local attorney as well for the district attorney's office. Mary decided to even further her education more and enrolled into the University of Nevada, Reno. While working for the law offices of Guild, Clark and Hageen, she earned her teaching degree.
It was in Reno, Nev., that Mary met her soul mate, Joseph Dunn, Jr. From there Mary and Joseph moved to Splendora, Texas, where they called home ever since. Some of Mary's hobbies were reading, fast cars that made lots of noise and probably most of all was spending time with her pets.
Mary finally reached her ultimate goal as an executive legal secretary and work in the legal field for 28 years until she retired. After retiring Mary volunteered for several years at Splendora Independent School District where she impacted the lives of students and staff members she came in contact with.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Dunn, Jr. and brothers, Richard Aranguena and David Aranguena.
Visitation for Mary was held 5 to 9 p.m., Tuesday evening, Sept. 9, 2014, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland. Services was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at St. Martha's Catholic Church, Porter, Texas.
