Marlene Gandiaga, of Winnemucca, Nev., passed away Nov. 25, 2014. She was born to John and Jupie Crawford on Oct. 8, 1952, in Winnemucca.
Marlene received her GED from Lowry High School in 1970. She moved to Denio, Nev., in 1984, where she coached basketball. In 1995, she moved back to Winnemucca and made her home. Marlene worked for CB Brown's for 10-plus years.
Prior to moving to Denio, Marlene was a part of the Winnemucca Host Lions Club, coached flag football and City League Basketball. For the past two years, she has been a team member on the Relay for Life team, Holy Walk-a-Molés. Her passions were hunting, fishing, camping or simply sitting by the lake with her dogs and spending time with her husband Joe, family and friends. She also enjoyed being on various bowling leagues thorugh Spare Time Bowling.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Gandiaga, daughter Marnie (Andy) Carter, son John Michael (Samantha) Evans Jr., grandchildren Ashleigh (CJ) Hutton, Heather (Jessee) Inskeep, Hailey and Lexie Strom, great-grand children Carmen & Carley Hutton and Landon Inskeep. Her sisters Dolores Shields, Dorothy Caldwell, Jeannie (Stan) Cowley and many nieces and nephews also survive her.
There will be graveside services Monday, Dec. 8., 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Winnemucca Cemetery, followed by a potluck gathering at Ormachea's Dinner House at 180 Melarkey Street in Winnemucca, Nev.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Marlene Gandiaga, honoring her Relay for Life team, Holy Walk-a-Molés or the LaRena Smith Bengoa Run, Ride or Walk for the Cure.
