Marion F. Mendenhall

Marion F. Mendenhall passed away on Sept. 29, 2011. Born on Dec. 6, 1916, Marion was 94 years old.

She was preceded in death by her son Frank "Corky" Mendenhall, her husband Frank Mendenhall, and her brother Richard Helmers.

Marion was born in Livingston, Mont., but she was raised in Los Angeles Calif. Marion met her husband, Frank in L.A.

After they were married, they moved to Oakland.

In 1950, Marion and Frank moved to Lovelock where they lived at the Mitch Ranch, then the Stiff Ranch, and finally the Mendenhall Ranch.

They had 2 children: Frank "Corky" Jr. and Suzie.

Marion and Frank owned a baked goods distributorship and they both delivered baked goods between Winnemucca and Lovelock. They retired around 1970. They then

decided to travel. They saw all 50 states, as Frank loved to drive. They also traveled to China, Russia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Marion was very independent. She loved to paint landscapes and she loved to fish. She made it a point to be at all her grandkid's sporting events. Her family meant the world to her. She even went to Burning Man this year. She also volunteered at the senior center whom she called when she got sick and apologized for not being able to come in and help.

Marion will be greatly missed by her family.

She is survived by a daughter Suzie Battcher (Gardnerville), 3 grandsons: Fritz Battcher (Reno), Scott Battcher (Gardnerville), Steven Battcher (San Jose), a granddaughter Becky Ellis (Bourbonnais, Ill) and 10 great grand children.

A public visitation will be held Oct. 8, 2011, from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the Lovelock Funeral Home in Lovelock.

There is to be a private family service to be held at a later date.
