Margaret Lois Mauldin, 85, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at the Battle Mountain General Hospital after a long illness.
Margaret was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Newt and Vivian Montgomery. Margaret was raised in New Mexico and Colorado. She met and married Sonny Mauldin in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Oct. 18, 1945. Margaret and Sonny moved to Nevada with their three children in 1945. The family lived in Indian Creek, Super X, Gold Acres, Tenabo and Battle Mountain.
Margaret worked at the Nevada Hotel, Nifty Fifty's, Hide Away and cut turquoise for the family. Margaret loved working at the Hide Away with her good old friends Sue and Maggie. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, two brothers John and George Montgomery and her daughter Glenda.
She is survived by her son Michael (Kayla), and daughter Carol Tinken, both of Battle Mountain; her sisters Rose Allred and Betty Stalling of Farmington, New Mexico, and Jackie Morgon of Red Vail, Colorado; five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at the Hide Away at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 19, 2013.
