Man jumps into scalding hot spring near Denio to save dog

WINNEMUCCA - A man jumped into a scalding hot spring in an attempt to save his dog who had jumped in, according to Pat Songer, Humboldt General Hospital Emergency Medical Services director.

Songer reported that the man had stopped for a break at a hot spring near Denio on Oct. 19 at approximately 11 a.m. The man's dog went in to the scalding hot spring and he went in as well in an attempt to save it.

Songer stated that the man was transported to the hospital, treated and released. The dog did not survive.
