Man arrested on suspicion of possessing 17 pounds of marijuana

WINNEMUCCA - Christopher Jay Bullington, 34, of California, was arrested Friday, Nov. 23, on suspicion of sale of marijuana, transport of a controlled substance, and possession of methamphetamine after his vehicle was stopped on Interstate 80, according to a Humboldt County Sheriff's Office press release.

Bullington was stopped by HCSO Deputy Cody Peek for a registration violation at mile marker 181 near Winnemucca. During contact with the driver, Peek also determined that the driver's license was suspended.

During the stop, Peek suspected that Bullington may have had narcotics in the vehicle and Sgt. Aker and K-9 Boots arrived on the scene to assist.

According to HCSO, a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed approximately 17 pounds of marijuana and Bullington was placed under arrest.

At the time of the HCSO release on Nov. 27, Bullington was still in custody at the Humboldt County Jail and his bail was set at $40,000.
