CARSON CITY - Many women in rural Nevada have never had a mammogram. Fear, lack of funds, transportation conflicts or no insurance are the main reasons women have not protected their health with this breast cancer screening process. Yet, we know that early detection of breast cancer saves lives.
The Mammovan will be visiting the Safeway store in Lovelock March 23 - 24, offering mammograms to geographically isolated and uninsured women. Through the kind support of several organizations, mammograms will be available by appointment, for age and income eligible women.
The Mammovan is a program of Nevada Health Centers, and the mammograms are supported through generous grants from the Harrah's Foundation, The Safeway Foundation, Smith's Food and Drug Store, The David and Linda Shaheen Foundation, Food-4-Less, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Northern Nevada, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Southern Nevada, Wal-Mart State Giving Program, National Breast Cancer Foundation, State of Nevada State Health Division, Patient Donation Fund, Los Prados Womens Club, First Lady's Fund, Zonta International Club and the Pahrump Valley Republican Women.
Insured, uninsured, Medicare and Medicaid-eligible women will be served.
So, do yourself and your loved ones a favor! Call toll-free, (877) 581-6266, to make an appointment and to see if you are eligible. It will give you peace of mind, and it could help protect your life.
