WINNEMUCCA - Photography shows, musical performances, contests and workshops are on the schedule for the 24th outing of Shooting The West. A unique photography symposium held in Winnemucca, this year's program will be presented March 7 - 11 in the Winnemucca Convention Center.
The event's special guest is Stacy Pearsall, a highly decorated Iraq War military combat photographer. Her three tours in Iraq earned her the Bronze Star Medal and Commendation with Valor for heroic actions under fire. Pearsall will share stunning images and recount some of the most dramatic and compelling moments behind making them.
On Friday night, March 9, the husband and wife team of Al Petteway and Amy White will perform "High in the Blue Ridge," combining live music with stunning photographic images of the natural surroundings near their home in the mountains of western North Carolina.
A sixth-generation cattle rancher from Bridgeport, Calif., Blair Hunewill calls his presentation "Ranchin' Roots and Travelin' Boots." Hunewill's love of travel has taken him to 32 countries on six continents. Hunewill will share stories and images from his extensive travels, life as a rancher and climbing Sierra peaks.
Shooting The West also will include additional presentations on the photography of the West and ranching; hands-on workshops on digital manipulation; how to take action and sports photos; a field trip; and plenty of opportunity to talk one-and-one with the pros.
