WINNEMUCCA - Lowry High School sophomore Juliana Velasco was named to the Division I-A North first team and the all-state second team at middle blocker for her play during the volleyball season.
Velasco was the lone Buckaroo on the all-state team and led the Lady Bucks with 173 kills and 82 blocks.
Lowry went 15-14 overall (9-7 Division I-A) this year in finishing fourth in the league and making the playoffs after just one league win a season ago.
Dayton's Madi Foley, who has signed with the University of Nevada, was named the MVP and Sparks' Tarina Martinez was the Coach of the Year.
Filling out the all-league, first team was Elko's Kelsie Gailey, Truckee's Mackenzie Redner, Churchill County's Mary Scholz and Dayton's Taryn Schriner, Jessie Coons and Foley.
The second team included Fernley's Kelsie Callahan, Elko's Jsalynn Harris and Desirea Danner, South Tahoe's Kendyle Delacore, Churchill County's Ali Tedford, Dayton's Ashley Vickers and Truckee's Lauren Peek and Chelsea Mohan.
The Lady Bucks' Ere Higbee and Rachel Sigurdson were named to the honorable mention team. Both girls are seniors. Spring Creek's Kaylee Snow and Mckinley Nevins, Sparks' Nina Cudra, Churchill County's Megan McCormick and South Tahoe's Raquel Marchesault rounded out the honorable mention team.
The all-state first team from the north included Foley, Coons and Reamer, while the second team was comprised of Scholz, Gailey and Schriner.
