Lowry's Naveran named to Division I-A North first team

Lowry High School's Garrett Naveran was chosen to the Division I-A North first team, which is selected by the league's nine coaches.

Naveran averaged 7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals a game in his senior season for the Buckaroos. He helped Lowry to a 19-10 season and a seventh consecutive trip to the state tournament. The Buckaroos finished second in the Division I-A North and lost to Clark in the state semifinals for a second consecutive season.

Elko's Chris Klekas was named Coach of the Year and Nathan Klekas was named the Player of the Year, Elko's Marshall Dumas, Brandon Jenkins and Tim Meo were picked for the first team as was Churchill County's Jeff Evett and Spring Creek's Caden Gunnell.

Nathan Lutzow was the lone Buckaroo named to the second team. Lutzow in his first varsity season, averaged 10.7 points and 4.9 rebounds a game.

The remainder of the second team included Fernley's Dominic Ceresola and Zach Burns, Spring Creek's Jaysen Woodland, Elko's Eric Klekas and South Tahoe's Stone Merkley.

Lowry's Sterling Dennis and Christian Gray were named to the honorable mention squad. Gray led the Buckaroos in scoring with 11.1 points a game and Dennis averaged 4.6 points, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals.

The honorable mention group was made up of South Tahoe's Denizen Perez, Tyler Hogbin and Harry Moses-Chakmakis, Dayton's Blake Blocker and Jonathan Joyner, Spring Creek's Ryan Knudsen, Churchill County's Connor Richardson and Clay Davison, Truckee's Nick Oberitter, Elko's Cody Nielsen, Sparks' Adrian Garcia and Fernley's Kevin Montgomery.

The all-state picks were released as well, with Nathan Klekas, Jenkins and Evett being named to the first team.

Naveran was selected to the second tea, along with Meo, Dumas and Gunnell.

Clark's Chad Beeten was named Coach of the Year. Clark beat Desert Pines for its second consecutive state championship.
