Lowry's Iturriaga sets Division I-A state record for digs in a match

Lady Bucks' sophomore had 45 against Truckee

WINNEMUCCA - In what proved to be a turnaround year for the Lowry High School volleyball team, the Lady Bucks set two individual state records this fall.

The latest occurred on Friday, Oct. 18, as the Lady Bucks took on Truckee in Winnemucca. Lowry High School sophomore Darion Iturriaga made her way in the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association record book with 45 digs. The match went five sets, with the Wolverines prevailing.

The old Division I-A record was 21, set by Boulder City's Lauren Dunsmore in 2001 against Pahrump Valley. Faith Lutheran's Lindsay Gleason was second at 19, also against Pahrump Valley in 2001.

The Division I record is held by Bonanza's Christina Figgins, who had 40 against Sierra Vista in 2008. Galena's Kellie Burton and Lauren Wallace are second and third, respectively, with 27 and 26.

The Division III record for digs in a match is held by Calvary Chapel's Breattani Davis with 50 against Whittell in 2011. Lake Mead's Amanda Wellman is second with 41 against Pahranagat Valley in 2008 and Lake Mead's Annabelle Liston is third with 39 in 2010.

The Division IV record is held by Heather Parsons of Virginia City with 26 against McDermitt in 2000. Jackpot's Rosy Torrero is second with 21, set in 1994 against Virginia City.[[In-content Ad]]
