Lowry's Billingsley named Division I-A North Co-Offensive of the Year

After reaching the the playoffs for a sixth consecutive season, the Lowry High School football team was rewarded for its success on the field with a number of all-league selections.

The Buckaroos had two players named to the Division I-A North first-team chosen by the league's coaches, and in addition had the Co-Offensive Player of the Year in Beau Billingsley.

The senior running back rushed for over 1,300 yards and 20 touchdowns. In addition, he had seven receptions for 84 yards.

Joining him on the offensive side of the ball was center Luis Cardenas.

Fellow senior Donovan Brumm was named to the first team defense at linebacker. Brumm had a team-high 108 tackles to go with two sacks.

The Division I-A North first team offense included, Mason Cain (South Tahoe) and Kevin Montgomery (Fernley) at quarterback, Braxton Williams (Fernley), Jason Wilson (Elko) and Brian Reyes (Fernley) at running back and Dylan Jabines (Churchill County) and Chris Greco (Wooster) were the wide receivers. Nate Klekas (Elko) was chosen at tight end.

The offensive line was rounded out by Cody Stadtman (Churchill County), Tyler Roemer (Fernley), Cody Nielsen (Elko) and Jordan Walthers (Elko. Greco was chosen as the return specialist.

The first team defense was made of lineman Hunter Holcomb (Churchill County), Brandon Erickson (South Tahoe), Roemer (Fernley) and Jacob Pengally (Elko). The linebackers included Riley Williams (Churchill County), Reyes (Fernley) and Walthers (Elko).

Tanner Sawer (Truckee) and Eric Van Kirk (Elko) were chosen at cornerback and Shake Kelso (Fernley) and Adam Bullock (Elko) were the safety's. Kelso shared the punting honors with Truckee's Jose Araiza, who also garnered the kicking honor.

Churchill County's Brooke Hill was the Coach of the Year honors. Churchill County's Nathan Heck was named the MVP and the Greenwave's Justin Hatfield was the Defensive MVP. Elko's Benton Wickersham was selected as the Lineman of the Year and Churchill County's Justin Hatfield shared the Co-Offensive Player of the Year with Billingsley.

Three Buckaroos earned second-team honors including Garrett Naveran at tight end, Felipe Moreno at offensive line and Kelvin Meza at defensive line. Naveran was honored despite missing the last half of the season after injuring his shoulder against Elko.

Picking up honorable mention status on offense for Lowry were Okuma (running back), Tytus Millikan (wide receiver) and Tytin Johnson and Felipe Moreno (offensive line).

Lowry had six players on the honorable mention team, including Berto Ruiz, Anthony Hummel, Sterling Dennis, Christian Gray, Nate Nelson and Thomas Schwartz.

The Buckaroos went 7-4 this season, losing to Churchill County in the first round of the playoffs.
