The Lowry High School wrestling team won its seventh consecutive Division I-A North regional championship on Saturday, topping Spring Creek by 73 points at Spring Creek High School.
The Buckaroos won the title with 291 points. Spring Creek was second with 218 points, Churchill County (157) was third and Elko (139) and Fernley (101) rounded out the top five.
Lowry qualified 17 of its 18 grapplers for the state tournament, including all 14 scorers, which will take place Friday and Saturday at the Winnemucca Event Center.
The Buckaroos had the most individual champions at the regional tournament eight and they had 11 wrestlers in the finals. The eight champions were Trase Bell at 120 pounds, Kevin Blanco (126), Gabe Molina (132), Nate Nelson (145), Blake Duncan (152), Beau Billingsley (182), Anthony Hummel (195) and Luis Cardenas (285).
Bryan Day (106), Shaun Mentaberry (160) and Chris Karchella (285) were second and Nathen Blanco (113), Cameron Okuma (138), Cade Billingsley (152) and Blake Hillyer (220) were third. Quint Bell (132) and Tristen Waller (170) were fourth.
