Lowry wrestlers extend dual winning streak to 82

Buckaroos host tournament this weekend

WINNEMUCCA -The Lowry High School wrestling team extended the second-longest dual winning streak in state history to 82 with seven wins this past weekend at Churchill County High School in Fallon.

Yerington holds the all-time streak at 107, which spanned from 1971-79.

The Buckaroos went 7-0 over the two days at the Stockmen's/Wilkes Invitational, beating Elko 56-18, Churchill County JV 74-6 and Dayton 78-6 on Friday. The only points Churchill County and Dayton scored were by forfeit by the Buckaroos at 113 pounds. Lowry also beat Truckee in the first day of the tournament.

On Saturday, Lowry defeated Spanish Springs 68-12, Yerington 67-12 and Churchill County 52-27. Spanish Springs and Yerington are two of the top teams in Division I and Division III, respectively. Churchill County will be one of the main contenders for the Buckaroos in the Division I-A North this season.

Lowry hosts the Cody Louk Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Winnemucca Event Center. Action begins at 2 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday.
