The Lowry High School softball team was well recognized for its second-place finish in the Division I-A North this season.
The Lady Bucks placed nine of their players on the three respective all-league teams. Lowry had a league-high five players chosen to the first team, including Shelby McKinnon, Ere Higbee, Kylee McClellan, Lexie Coleman and Taylor Schwartz.
McKinnon batted .344 this season with 31 hits and 27 runs scored. She had two home runs and 22 RBI. The junior also stole 14-of-15 bases this spring.
Ere Higbee was second on the team with 32 hits and hit .408. The senior that is headed to Southwestern Oregon Community College had 31 hits and scored 32 runs. She drove in 20 runs and hit two home runs.
McClellan led the Lady Bucks with a .437 batting average to go with 38 hits. The junior drove in 20 runs, hit two home runs and a team-high eight doubles.
Coleman batted .308 with 24 hits, 23 runs scored and she had 19 RBI. Schwartz picked up her honor for pitching, where she led Lowry in wins. The senior hit .275 and a home run in her final game.
Churchill County's Bill Archer was named the Coach of the Year and Fernley's Serena Olson was chosen as the Player of the Year.
The remainder of the first included Fernley's Cheyenne Brewer, Churchill County's Megan McCormick, Paige Thorn and Riley Ricken, Spring Creek's Serima Thompson, Sparks' Marissa Coleman and Dayton's Makayla Shadle.
The Lady Bucks' Jaecee Munger and Alyssa Dendary were named to the second team. They were joined by Elko's Aly Freitag and Bailey Heathman, Fernley's Kelsie Callahan, Taylor Hires-Caulk, Bailey Henderson and Taelyne Phillips, Churchill County's Ali Tedford, Courtney Cross and Kayla Buckmaster and Spring Creek's Ashley Bodin.
Lowry's Allison Barron and Caitlynn Cooper were named to the honorable mention team. That group was comprised of South Tahoe's Kendra Conrad and Kayla Griffis, Truckee's Katie Fisher, Churchill County's Kalyn Huckaby, Dayton's Kalee Alexander and Nichole Vienneay, Spring Creek's Gretchen Plank and Kathy Macdiarmid, Fernley's Mercedes Rothwell and Hayley Mull, Elko's ShayDea Mead and Sparks' Jocelynn Vasquez and Sarah Hanson.
McClellan was the only Lowry player named to the first-team all-state squad. Fellow northern players Olson, Brewer, McCormick, Ricken and Shadle were also chosen.

Lowry finished the year at 22-12 overall and were 19-56 in the Division I-A North. The Lady Bucks lost in the elimination game of the regional tournament to Fernley.[[In-content Ad]]
