Lowry JV girls stay undefeated, roll to two more victories over South Tahoe, Dayton

Lady Bucks hold foes to combined 10 points

It was business as usual for the Lowry High School junior varsity girls basketball team this past weekend.

The Lady Bucks remained undefeated on the season with a 52-7 victory at South Tahoe on Friday, Jan. 23, and a 50-3 rout of Dayton on Saturday morning.

"It's tough right now," said LHS coach Amy Jenkins. "We haven't had a competitive game in a long time. It's tough to get better when you play games like that. It's hard when you can't run all the stuff that you want to."

Lowry (10-0 Division I-A North, 19-0 overall) raced out to a 16-3 lead against South Tahoe in the first quarter and was never challenged.

The Lady Bucks grew the advantage to 31-7 at halftime and held the Vikings scoreless in the second half. The game was played with a running clock in the fourth quarter.

Eight different players scored for the Lady Bucks and three outscored South Tahoe by themselves. Brooklyn Waller led the way with 12 points and Kenadee Jeppsen and Alyssa Kuskie each had eight.

Hannah Hillyer finished with seven, McKenna Jones six, Kyllie Sappington five, Brooklyn Backus four and Amaya Herrera two.

Lowry continued its domination on Saturday, as Dayton's only points were off a 3-point field goal in the first quarter. The Dust Devils went scoreless in the final three quarters.

The Lady Bucks led 29-3 at halftime and the contest went with a running clock in the third quarter, as Lowry built a 45-3 advantage.

Kuskie led all scorers with 16 points, Jeppsen had nine, Hillyer six, Aimee Brandon five, Jones and Sappington four each and Backus, Waller and Herrera two each.
