Lowry JV girls crush Fernley to keep undefeated season intact

The chase for perfection for the Lowry High School junior varsity girls basketball team continued, with a 59-15 win over Fernley on Tuesday afternoon in Winnemucca. The Lady Bucks improved to 14-0 in the Division I-A North and 23-0 overall.

Lowry held Fernley to one field goal in the first quarter and scored 19 of the final 21 points after the game was tied at 2-2. The Lady Bucks picked up a balanced scoring attack in the first eight minutes with buckets by Kenadee Jeppsen, Hannah Hillyer, Audrey Snow and Kyllie Sappington. Alyssa Kuskie closed out the first quarter with a 3-point field goal to give Lowry a 21-4 lead.

The rout continued into the second quarter with the Lady Bucks scoring the fist nine points to increase the margin to 30-4. Fernley was held scoreless for the first three minutes of the second quarter, but after scoring its first two points, Brooklyn Waller started a 10-0 run with a 3-point field goal and the Lady Bucks eventually led 42-10 at halftime.

Kuskie scored six of the first eight points in the third quarter and Waller also added a basket as the game went to a running clock with two minutes left in the period.

Kuskie and Jeppsen paced Lowry with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Snow added eight, Waller seven, Amaya Herrera five, and Aimee Brandon, Sappington and Hillyer two each.

Lowry closes out its season this weekend on the road, beginning with Spring Creek today at 3 p.m. The Lady Bucks face Elko on Saturday at 10 a.m.
