Lowry JV boys extend win streak to four games, beats South Tahoe, Dayton

After an opening season loss to Yerington, the Lowry High School junior varsity boys basketball extended its win streak to four games with home wins over South Tahoe and Dayton this past weekend.

The Buckaroos used a strong defensive effort to beat South Tahoe 39-27 on Friday. The Vikings scored just 16 points in the first three quarters, before nearly equaling that total in the fourth quarter.

Lowry led by three points after eight minutes of play, but used a 21-10 run in the second and third quarters to build a double-figure lead cruised to the victory.

Jed Teichert, Salvador Perez and Brody Goucher each scored eight points for the Buckaroos. Dominic Diaz, Jacob Hernandez and Brady Lange had four points apiece, Christian Riddle two and Joe Taylor one.

Lowry scored the first 10 points on Saturday in the 50-41 win over Dayton Teichert scored six of his team-high 12 points in the opening quarter. Goucher also added two buckets in the first quarter.

The Dust Devils closed the gap to seven points at halftime, only to see the Buckaroos start the third quarter on a 13-2 run, which ended on a 3-point shot by Riddle.

Lowry's 11-point advantage to start the fourth quarter was all but gone with 2:52 to play as Dayton closed the gap to 43-41. The Dust Devils did not score again, with Lange putting a hot back with 2:10 to play, starting a 7-0 run to close out the game.

Perez and Goucher added eight points apiece, Diaz, Riddle, Lange and Travis Hardy each had four and Taylor and Hernandez two each.

Lowry gets a short Christmas break and will be back on the floor on Friday and Saturday for the State Farm Tournament at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno. The tournament resumes on Monday and concludes on Tuesday, Dec. 30.[[In-content Ad]]
