Lowry Leadership is back at it once again, and this time it is for the good of the entire Nevada Association of Student Council Northern Region's benefit. On Sunday, Nov. 9, Lowry was host to the first day of the Northern Region's Regional Conference that aimed to "build a better region through leadership." The delegates arrived on Sunday evening, with schools represented everywhere from Jackpot to Tonopah, and everywhere in between.
The evening was full of food, fun and bounce houses, and it was one of the only times I had personally ever seen a group of high school kids in tears of joy. After all of the fun was said and done, the group gathered amongst each other to listen to a surprise closing speech given by their Northern Region Representative Brycen Prokasky, who drew on his personal experiences, to deliver a powerful message that struck not only the students, but their advisers as well.
After the speech, the schools headed to their hotels to prepare for an early morning on day two, Nov. 10. Once again the gym was packed with delegates, all the while Lowry students were hard at work learning in their 25-minute class periods. Both the delegates and Lowry's student body were invited to listen to the wise words of our keynote speaker Kyle Scheele, a man with a beard, a sense of humor and an awesome message.
After the keynote speech, the delegates attended workshops, shared ideas and met the few state board members who were able to attend the conference. Overall, the conference was quite the event, and a great way for the northern region to spend two days filled with the crazy energy, meaningful words and learning the ins and outs of student council, that any great conference has.[[In-content Ad]]
