Lowry High School long jump/triple jump project wraps up

Bucks host meet on Saturday

When the Lowry High School track and field team hosts its invitational on Saturday, fans will see some new additions behind the football and soccer field.

Beginning last November, Loren Hunewill of Hunewill Construction donated the time and materials to create the location for the new long and triple jumps to the site of the field. In addition, Hunewill increased the area of the lower parking lot.

The Winnemucca Century Club donated $19,000 to the project to pay for the concrete construction of the runways, pits and fab viewing area. The Humboldt County School District paid for the synthetic surface and stripes to go over the concrete runway.

The Humboldt County School District also completed the landscaping around the project. The plan for the near future is to find volunteers to construct permanent shade structures and fan seating areas.

The Buckaroos host their track meet at 9 a.m. on Saturday.[[In-content Ad]]
