WINNEMUCCA - The spring sports season is headed toward its regional and state playoffs, but the schedule for the Lowry High School football team is out and fans will not have to wait long for an early-season showdown.
The Buckaroos, who went 9-3 last year and reached the 3A state semifinals, will begin their Division I-A campaign in Battle Mountain on Friday, Aug. 24. Lowry kicks off its league schedule on Saturday, Sept. 1, against Truckee, the three-time defending state champion.
The Buckaroos make their home debut on Friday, Sept. 7, versus Wooster at 7 p.m. and also have home games with Dayton (Sept. 21) and Elko (Sept. 28). Other home games include Fernley (Oct. 19) and Churchill County (Oct. 25).
Lowry's three other road games are South Tahoe (Sept. 14), Sparks (Oct. 5) and Spring Creek (Oct. 12).
