Lowry girls named to all-state and all-league soccer teams

Rodriguez earns first-team honors

WINNEMUCCA - Lowry High School junior Monique Rodriguez was named to the Division I-A North girls first team at forward and was also named to the Division I-A all-state second team. She was the only Buckaroo named to the all-state team.

South Tahoe's Jeremy Evans and Allison King were named the Coach of the Year and Player of the Year in the Division I-A North.

Northern players on the first-team, all-state squad included South Tahoe's Jordyn Dion and Evans, Churchill County's Maddi Alegre and Fernley's Brittney Gonzalez and Maria Sanchez.

The second team was comprised of Churchill County's Erin Nelson, South Tahoe's Cassidy Jackson, Truckee's Emma Warren and Kaylee Neill and Elko's Kaitlyn Smith.

The Division I-A North first team included Alegre and Dion at forward. Jackson, Warren, Gonzalez and Sanchez were chosen at halfback and Smith, King and Maison Power (Truckee) at fullback. Nelson was chosen at goalkeeper and Neill was a utility player.

The Lady Bucks' Caitlynn Cooper was named to the Division I-A North second team as a fullback.

The second team was comprised of Churchill County's Rebecca Mills, Spring Creek's Haley Isaman and Truckee's Marcelle Reynaud at forward. The halfbacks were made up of Churchill County's Monica Mills and Jordin Warner, Spring Creek's Shawntel Anderson and South Tahoe's Jennifer Burks. The fullbacks included South Tahoe's Jensen Smith and Truckee's Sarah Svoboda.The goalkeeper was Sparks' Senifa Po'oi and Elko's Brooke Pawelek was named at the utility position.

Lowry's Alison Walker and Iridiana Gonzalez were named to the honorable mention team at halfback and fullback, respectively.

Lowry finished the year 6-9-1 in the Division I-A North and 10-9-2 overall.
