Lowry athletes garner all-state academic honors

WINNEMUCCA - While state champions are won on the court or the field, the NIAA also recognizes athletes for their academic success as well.

The NIAA released its list for the Fall 2013 Nevada All-State All Academic Team and it features 19 students at Lowry High School.

These student/athletes all received a 4.0 GPA in their previous semester at Lowry and are in a varsity fall sport for the Buckaroos.

Seven players from the Lowry football team garnered honors, including Thomas Schwartz, Garrett Naveran, Felipe Moreno, Tytus Millikan, Colin Doyle, Donovan Brumm and Beau Billingsley.

Alyssa Dendary of the girls golf team and Rebekah Goldblatt of the cross country team were named to the team as were cheerleaders Taylor LaTray and Rachel Foster.

The Lady Buckaroos' girls soccer team had three of its players chosen, including Caitlynn Cooper, Maddie Mayo and Cheyenna Wolicki, while Rachel Sigurdson, Meg Montero and Auri Criddle of the volleyball team made the list.
