Louis G. Barbier returned to the loving arms of his heavenly father on May 16, 2013. Louis was born to Mattie E. Fullen and Charles R. Barbier on Feb. 4, 1944. He grew up in Phoenix, Ariz., with his siblings Jacqueline Sargent (Robert), Diane Davis (James) and C.R. Barbier (Linda). Thomas Blaton (Patty) was his best friend and brother by choice.
Louie graduated from South Mountain high school and enlisted in the Army as a medic where he served three years in Germany. When he returned home, he met the love of his life Ruth Dunagan and they were married in 1966. They had three children: Holly Heese (Dustin), Richard Barbier (Lisa) and Heidi Spahr (Eric). He also has 11 grandchildren.
He received a degree in accounting and business. Louie worked in Arizona and Nevada for Duval and Battle Mountain Gold and eventually finished his mining career at Newmont Mining. He relocated to Boise in 2000 and worked for the Idaho State prison system as a guard until he retired. Louie was a fun-loving, family man who held his friends and family close to his heart.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Maple Grove Ward on Goddard Street in Boise, Idaho. The viewing will be held at 10 a.m. and the funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Bishop Kelly Grange will be presiding.
