Longhorn Youth Team presents certificates of appreciation to officials for taking part in drill

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - On April 12, the Longhorn Youth Team, in conjunction with Kayla Mauldin, of Frontier Community Coalition, and Johna Reeves, Battle Mountain High School counselor, conducted a simulated house party drill in which community responders participated.

The fake scenario of a house party gone wrong with all the miscellaneous circumstances took place. There was fake underage drinking, contributing to minors, violence, and emergency medical services were needed, per the scenario.

Participating in the fake scenario were the Lander County Sheriff's Office, the Lander County Juvenile Department, Lander County Emergency Medical Services and students from the Longhorn Youth Team.

On May 22, students from the Longhorn Youth Team, with Kayla Mauldin and Johna Reeves, presented the Lander County Sheriff's Office, the Lander County Juvenile Department and Lander County Emergency Medical Services with certificates of appreciation for their participation in the mock house party scenario that took place on April 12.

Students also had certificates for Jill Paul and Keesha Averett for taking pictures and video of the event.[[In-content Ad]]
