BATTLE MOUNTAIN - The Battle Mountain High School junior varsity volleyball team closed out its stay at the White Pine Tournament in Ely with four consecutive wins and finished 4-2 over the two days.
The Lady Longhorns lost their first two matches of the tournament, falling 25-14 and 25-17 to White Pine and 16-25, 25-20 and 16-14 to Eureka. Battle Mountain bounced back on Friday night to beat West Wendover 25-15 and 25-19.
The Lady Longhorns took that momentum into Saturday and won all three matches, starting with a 25-10 and 25-12 victory over West Wendover. Battle Mountain then defeated Milford (Utah) 25-23 and 25-22 and Wells 25-13, 25-27 and 15-6.
"This is always a great opening tournament for us," said BMHS head coach Roger Wallock. "Kaleah (Torgerson) and Caitlyn (Warwood) served extremely well all weekend. We started off a little slow dropping the first two matches, but finished with four victories in a row."
Battle Mountain returns to action on Friday, Sept. 9, and Saturday, Sept. 10, hosting the Longhorn Invitational.
