Lonetta Louise Anderson

Lonetta Louise Anderson, "Lonnie", passed away peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 5, 2012 at Harmony Manor.

Lonnie, as she was known to her friends, was born on Feb. 28, 1926 to Allen T. DeRemer and Amada H. Hammontree. Lonnie grew up in Denver, Colo., where she attended East High School and Denver University where she studied home economics. She was an active member of her sorority Delta Zeta and a member of the Parakeet pep squad.

After WWII ended, Lonnie married the love of her life William Robert Anderson on Sept. 20, 1946. They made their home in Denver and Evergreen, Colo. Lonnie worked as a secretary in a trucking firm, and a data processing company. Their only child was born in 1965. Lonnie was always very active in her daughter's life doing everything from Girl Scout leader to timing swim meets.

In 1974 the family moved to Dillon, Colo., to run a laundromat and dry cleaners. Bob and Lonnie retired in 1988 and Bob passed away a few months later. With the birth of her only grandchild, Lonnie moved to Winnemucca in 1995.

She loved to spend time with the apple of her eye - her granddaughter Anna and as long as her health lasted, Lonnie never missed a dance recital or soccer game. Lonnie's passion for helping others was life long. She started as a volunteer pink lady at St. Anthony's hospital in Colorado at an early age. She was the head of the ER Volunteers until coming to Winnemucca.

Here she worked at the Poke-n-Peek, and the front desk at the hospital. By the time she retired her pink jacket, Lonnie had logged thousands of volunteer hours. Lonnie was also a member of P.E.O. for 29 years. Lonnie loved the Lord and was active in many churches. Including the United Methodist and Grass Valley Baptist Church.

Lonnie is survived by her brother Allen DeRemer Jr. of Denver, daughter Lisa (Alan) Davis of Winnemucca, granddaughter Anna Davis, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial of life will be held after the New Year.
