WINNEMUCCA - A caller to the Humboldt Sun reported a possible phone scam earlier this week regarding checking computer equipment.
A man with an Indian or Pakistani accent called the local woman and identified himself as with a security company contracted by Microsoft to run a check on her computer to see if it had been hacked or had a virus. The man told her he would walk her through the procedures she needed to perform on the computer. She declined the offer and hung up.
