Local volunteers sought for third annual BLM/RESPECT cleanup day

WINNEMUCCA - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Humboldt River Field Office, along with the RESPECT group of Winnemucca, will be holding its third annual community cleanup on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The objective of the event is to clean up trash on public land in the area around the Bloody Shins Trailhead.

"This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to get outside, work alongside their neighbors and help to improve their community." said Mike Truden, Humboldt River field manager.

All members of the Winnemucca community and surrounding areas are invited to this event. Bring your family, friends or neighbors and come help keep the lands clean, healthy and beautiful. Want to know more? Here is what you need to know to get involved:

• Where: All volunteers will meet at the Bloody Shins Trailhead parking lot on Kluncy Canyon Road.

• When: Arrive by 9 a.m. and clear the land of trash until 11 a.m.

• What to bring: Sunscreen and water. Rakes, shovels, gloves and garbage bags will be provided. You can also bring friends that are interested in keeping the community clean.

• What to wear: Please wear closed-toed shoes, hats and other appropriate, outdoor attire. Be prepared for inclement weather! As Nevadans, residents know that the weather can change at any moment.
