BATTLE MOUNTAIN - On Saturday, Oct. 8 - after an entire week of learning lines, songs, and choreography - students from the Battle Mountain community ages K-12 put on a great performance of the musical "King Arthur's Quest" conceived and written by Michael McGill and Rebecca McGill of Missoula Children's Theatre. Annually the Battle Mountain Arts Presenters pays to have this group come and introduce the performing arts experience to the youth. This gives students exposure to the performing arts and an opportunity to observe and participate in a full scale musical production. It is a great educational experience for youth. They learn about working hard, having fun, discipline, memorizing routines and lines, and scheduling.
This year's instructors from the Missoula Children's Theatre were Sheryl Beth Silver and Sheila O'Hara with Judy Dahl accompanying on piano.
The starring cast included Damon Nelson, Megan Smith, Luke St. Clair, Kaitlyn Printz, Kayellen Edgar, Brooke Ripley, Paige Ripley, Logan Rochester, Emilee Glazier, Connor Rochester, Caylin Meyer, Mikee Pettit, Samantha McKenzie, Kyle Wilson, Lliana Fotsh, Shayleah George, Halle Rogers, Zarrah Alcazar, Danny Noriega, Tristan Wahrenburg, Sarah Berumen, Kira Smith, Jillian Bisiaux, Alanna Schoner, Aubrie Schmidt, Emily Schroeder, Sierra Pittman, Anna Configliacco, Rachel Updike, Tristan Price, Angelica Posadas, Julie Slauter, Sarah Markel, Adriann Berumen, Arianna Rochester, Alicia Murry, Ben Noland, Shaylee Kraft, Aidan Gilbert, Jolena Ayers, Krysta Lemaire, Noah Negro, Brooklynn Glazier, Hadlee Bauer, Shawn Francom, Rylee Schmidt, Lilliana Haney, Mia Lake, Hafen Smith, Lucy Noland, Jessie Francom, and Cara Conder. Assistant directors were Lezli Baird, Jenna Colgan, and Kim Pittman.
The students played awesome characters of Camelot. They played damsels in distress, Camelotians, knights, and squires. They kept the audience's attention as they followed the original twist of the familiar story as it weaved its way through a landscape full of surprises. The young actors and actresses kept the audience well entertained.
Every year Missoula Children's Theatre is brought to Battle Mountain by the Battle Mountain Arts Presenters. Every year the show is an original adaptation of a children's story or fairy tale. The team of two professional tour actors or actresses arrive in Battle Mountain with scenery, costumes, props, make-up, and basic lighting, everything but the cast. Battle Mountain provides the starring cast of youth and the show goes on.
The directors and cast put on a performance at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. This is a well looked forward to event for students and their families and friends. Every year the students get excited to find out exactly what story or fairy tale will be in store for them. This is a gift to the Battle Mountain community from the Battle Mountain Arts Presenters and their sponsors.
