WINNEMUCCA - Chris Schultz, a sixth grader at French Ford Middle School, recently competed in the 2013 Nevada National Geographic Bee at Tarkanian Middle School in Las Vegas.
Schultz was a semifinalist eligible to complete at the state level. Bees were held in middle schools throughout the state to determine each school's Bee winner.
School-level winners then took a qualifying test, which they submitted to the National Geographic Society. The National Geographic Society invited the students with the top 100 scores to compete at the state level.
Schultz did not win the state title. The state winner will represent Nevada in the national finals in Washington, D.C., May 20-22. This is the Bee's 25th year.
