Local residents invited to connect generations at family history fair

Local residents are invited to discover and strengthen their family connections next month during a free family history event.

"FamilyConnect: A Family History Fair" will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 31. The event is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and all residents in the Humboldt, Lander and Pershing county communities are invited to attend.

"Whether you are an avid genealogist, you are just getting started, or you simply want to discover the latest technologies and solutions to better connect with your family, FamilyConnect will have something for you," said Kim Snow, who is chairing the conference.

Snow said participants will learn how and where to start with their family history, how to organize their information, how to tell their own story, or even how to use the latest technology to solve real research problems.

The day will include class sessions, one-on-one counseling and fair exhibits. The event is open to youth and adults ages 12 and up. There is no charge to attend and lunch will be provided.

Participants may sign up online at http://FamilyConnect.eventbee.com/event?eid=138013265 or they may pre-register at 8:30 a.m. the day of the fair. The event will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 111 McArthur Avenue in Winnemucca.
