Local health fair encourages healthy living and enlightens the community

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Mark your calendars for Oct. 6 for the annual Lander County Health Fair. The event is a continual effort to enlighten and enable the community to adapt healthier lifestyle behavior.

The fair will include free health screenings for the public, which will be held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Battle Mountain Civic Center.

Free health screenings/activities will include blood pressure checks, body fat analysis/weight/height, cancer awareness, diabetes awareness/nutrition, brochures and pamphlets, advanced directives/long-term care information, Home Health Services of Nevada, Lander County Hospice, the American Red Cross, domestic violence/mental health, Lander Physical Therapy and WIC/Family Resource Center.

Services offered at special health fair rates include flu shots and blood tests. The blood tests will be drawn only until 11 a.m.

Pre-registration forms are available at the Battle Mountain General Hospital, Lander County Public Health Nurse Office, Battle Mountain Clinic and the Senior Center.
