WINNEMUCCA - For the third year in a row, Cheers Bar on Bridge Street is supporting the local Kidz 'n Cops program by holding a community raffle leading up to a drawing party on Dec. 15 and is in desperate need of donations.
Bar owners and staff are asking for community support for the fundraiser, either by donating much-needed items for the raffle or by purchasing tickets for items already donated.
Community members and patrons of Cheers have donated a variety of items to the raffled the past two years and bar owners have also purchased a Henry 30/30 rifle to be raffled off this year.
Tickets are being sold for $1 each or six for $5 and can be purchased at the bar. Raffle ticket holders must be present at the drawing party on Dec. 15 at 5 p.m. in order to claim prizes.
Raffle tickets for the rifle are $5 each or five for $20 and can be purchased at Cheers or Reliable Hardware. Unlike with the other items, the winner does not have to be present to claim the rifle.
The first year that Cheers held the Kidz 'n Cops raffle over $1,000 was raised and last year over $3,000 was raised. Bar owners and staff need help from the community to make this year an even bigger success.
The more that is donated to the raffle, the more money can be raised to help children in the community through the Kidz 'n Cops program.
Proceeds will go to the "shop with a cop" event held in December and other events that Kidz 'n Cops holds throughout the year, such as the backpack drive and donation of Lowry High School scholarships.
