Lowry High School's drama students will get to shine in their own spotlight next week as part of a fun tradition at the school.
"Senior Skits" will be held Monday, May 5, through Wednesday, May 7. Performances will begin at 7 p.m. in the school's auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for seating.
This year's program is entitled "A Senior Legacy."
Lowry High School Drama and Stagecraft teacher Corrine James said the senior skits highlight the "career" of each graduating senior.
James said seniors choose or write each piece, and serve as skit director as well.
"So the evening becomes a montage of various short skits - a chance for each senior to get his or her 5- to 15-minutes of fame," she said.
This is the fifth annual senior skit program, which was the brainchild of Jeanette Carter, James' mother.
However, next week's event has a new twist. Play goers at Wednesday evening's performance will have the chance to donate at the door toward a drama scholarship this year, and more in the future.
James said it will be her pleasure to begin a new legacy at the school of helping students further their education post-high school, especially those who will seek to pursue the arts.
Senior Skits is proudly presented by Lowry High School's Drama and Stagecraft students.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and $1 for youngsters. For more information, please email cjames@humboldt.k12.nv.us.
